Savory Cranberry Apple Galette with Goat Cheese.
My Savory Cranberry Apple Galette with Goat Cheese is a delicious combination of tart and sweet fruit with aromatic spices and nutritious goat cheese encased in a buttery puff pastry shell! This galette is a Sweet and Savory surprise for the Holidays!
2 cups whole cranberries
2 small organic apples, sliced thinly
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons shallot powder, Burlap and Barrel
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon Himalayan salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
4ounce log of goat cheese, divided
1 puff pastry sheet
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon flaked grey salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Combine the first seven ingredients in a medium sauce pan
Bring to a soft boil then simmer until cranberries pop
Turn off heat and stir in half of the goat cheese
Butter a tart or pie dish
Roll out the puff pastry
Line the dish with the puff pastry, leaving edges hanging over the dish
Pour the cranberry apple filling into the lined dish
Crumble the remains goat cheese on top
Fold the hanging pastry edges over the filling
Dot pastry and filling with pieces of butter
Sprinkle the top with the flaked salt
Bake for 1 hour until the top is puffy and golden brown
Remove from oven and let cool before slicing
