Tamarind Glazed Christmas Ham with Pineapple
A festive Holiday entrée; spicy, sweet and savory.
The only recipe you will need for my Tamarind Glazed Christmas Ham with Pineapple is for the tamarind glaze, here it is:
In a medium mason jar with lid combine
1/2 cup tamarind paste
1 tablespoon ginger paste
2 tablespoons organic garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Himalayan salt
2 tablespoons Korean red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon Aleppo red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ham glaze seasoning, Victoria’s Gourmet(optional)
1/2 cup organic honey
1/2 cup pineapple juice
Cover jar and shake well
1 farm raised heritage ham
dried thyme leaves
1 can of sliced pineapple
tamarind glaze, as above
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit
Place the ham cut side down in a baking pan, sprinkle with thyme
Place pineapple slices all around the ham, tie or toothpicks help
Pour the remainder of the pineapple juice over the ham
Roast for 1 hour, baste occasionally
Pour 1/2 of tamarind glaze over ham
roast and baste for additional 30 minutes
Raise oven temperature to 425 degrees Fahrenheit
Pour remaining glaze over the ham
roast and baste for additional 30 minutes until ham is nicely browned
Remove from oven, let rest before slicing
Serve with any number of sides for your holidays
